Mirror is the 10th track from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack). It was written by Ellie Goulding and Mathieu Jomphe and was produced by Billboard.

Background & Development[]

"I actually didn't [read any of the books], but I know enough about it — I saw the first film, I know enough about it to write a song for it," Goulding told MTV News on the EMA red carpet. "I actually wrote ['Mirror'] about someone, and then I converted it slightly for 'Hunger Games,' because I spoke to the director, and he loved the song so much and wanted it to be about the film." [1]

Mirror has been described by Ellie Goulding as the perfect song: “He wanted me to talk about the themes and stuff like that,” she continued. “[I re-worked it] and I love it now. It works; it's perfect now.” [2]

Idolator said it was “More sparse and experimental than the snippet would have you believe, Ellie’s Catching Fire contribution is perhaps the least commercial of the bunch.” [3]

The song was produced by Billboard who produced her previous bonus tracks in the special UK edition version of Halcyon which were High For This and The Ending.

Lyrics[]

Is this our world?

I look in the mirror
I can't get over you
Is this our world?
Is this someone else?
Is this someone else?

I look in the mirror
And I try to see myself
My head full of terror
From the games I played so well
I try to see clearer
I try to forget the fires I started
I try to be nearer
To where you are
To where you are

Are we star-crossed lovers?
Did I really want you gone?
If I'm really a winner
Where did these demons come from?

I was the girl who was on fire
I was the girl who was on fire
Only a bird could get much higher
(I look in the mirror)
'Cause I was the girl who was on fire

I look in the mirror
And I try to understand
And piece it together
Wash the blood from both my hands
I can't see the ending
There are people who know my every secret
I'm tired of pretending
You're in my heart
In my heart

Are we star-crossed lovers?
Did I really want you gone?
If I'm really a winner
Where did these demons come from?

I was the girl who was on fire
I was the girl who was on fire
Only a bird could get much higher
(I look in the mirror)
'Cause I was the girl who was on fire [4]
