On 26 August 2013, "Halcyon" was reissued as an expanded version titled "Halcyon Days".
The lead single from the reissued album, "Burn", was released 5 July 2013. The song topped the UK Singles Chart, becoming Goulding's first number-one single on the chart. It also charted in the top three in Ireland and in the top ten in Australia, Germany and New Zealand.
Release and Promotion[]
In an interview with Elle in July 2013, Goulding announced the reissue of Halcyon, titled Halcyon Days, commenting, "I have such an affinity with electronic music that I can't step away from it." She added that the expanded album would contain ten newly recorded songs to supplement the deluxe version of the original album.
Singles[]
The first single from the reissue Halcyon Days, "Burn", was released on 5 July 2013.[1] A fan-submitted Vine video for the song premiered on 4 July 2013,[2] followed by the official music video on 7 July.[3] The single topped the UK charts and 'Burn' successfully charted in the top 10 elsewhere. The song made 400,000 sales in the UK making the song certified as 'Gold'. The music video for 'Burn' was the first video by Ellie Goulding to reach over 200 million views. It was the first single by Ellie Goulding to top the UK charts.
The second single from Halcyon Days, "How Long Will I Love You" was released on 10 November 2013 in aid of Children in Need.[4] It debuted on the UK charts at no. 3 knocked off by Martin Garrix's 'Animals' and Lilly Allen's 'Somewhere Only We Know'. It was certified silver by the official charts company with sales over 200,000. The single had 2 alternate music videos. It is also included on the soundtrack to the 2013 Richard Curtis film About Time.
On 31 December 2013, Goulding unveiled a teaser trailer for the music video for the third single from Halcyon Days, "Goodness Gracious".[5] The official music video was released on January the 5th 2014 and the song charted in the UK top 20 at position 16.
In an interview with Capital FM on 9 February 2014, DJ Fresh revealed that he and Goulding had recorded a new version of the song "Flashlight" for single release later in 2014.
On May 9th 2014, "Beating Heart" was released as a single from the Divergent Movie Soundtrack, and was later added to the album "Halcyon Days" in the 2014 re-release.
Promotion[]
Halcyon Days was promoted via her interviews claiming she was going to release a re-issue of Halcyon. The Halcyon Days Tour also included Halcyon Days and Halcyon. Goulding performed "Burn" on the British and Italian editions of The X Factor on 13 October and 31 October 2013, respectively. She also promoted the single on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on 24 October 2013, on The Queen Latifah Show on 28 October, on NBC's The Voice on 26 November, on Late Show with David Letterman on 21 January 2014 and on Good Morning America on 22 January. Goulding delivered the first televised performance of "Goodness Gracious" on the British chat show The Graham Norton Show on 28 February 2014.

Commercial performance[]
The Halcyon Days reissue propelled Halcyon (album) to a new peak position of number seven on the Irish chart for the week ending 29 August 2013. Once again, the position of Halcyon propelled to number four on the Australian chart for re-entering the charts in June, 2014.
As of September 2016, the re-issue along with Halcyon (2012) had reached a total of 1 billion streams on Spotify. And, as Delirium (2015) had also reached a total of 1 billion streams in early 2016; Ellie became the first artist in history to achieve two albums with more than 1 billion streams on Spotify.
